Writing Day

Well, writing is commencing and I cant wait to read it!  I really hope you all find yourself in possession of a good plan for how to answer your question. Remember juniors this is a brief essay, just a few pages! Dont worry about being incredibly formal, just be strong in terms of style, focus, content, organization and conventions.  Have a good philosophical voice and be comfortable spewing out quality deep thought with support.  Dont feel bad taking the ideas of great thinkers.  Great thinkers "stand on the shoulders of giants"they only get where they are because of those who came before.  Think about your math class, do you think those polished formulas chalked up on the board have always looked like that?  How much trial, error, effort, collaboration(talk to each other), life, death, tears and blood(maybe not so much in math) went into those numbers.

  1. I meant to ask this in SSR, but things got crazy.

I'm writing my essay on the question, "Could we stop civilizations from falling?" I was wondering if you could give me some good philosophers to look into about human nature, since we already know Hobbes point of view.

  2. Sure, if you would like the classic other 2 to look into with state of nature, look at John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau... there are really a TON of others but those two are the easiest to find resources on.

  3. There are deffiately blood and tears in math. Just sayin.
And i'm really not understanding what we're doing in this essay. I'm gathering information on philosephers pertaining to my topic, but then what do I do with it? A simple "I agree with dadada because of blabiddty?" and then wash, rinse, repeat?

  4. Well, you will need the bibbity blabbity of the philosophers (I feel like this is a Bill Cosby conversation) Select ANY question from the EQ wall, your EQ notebook OR your brain and lets see what they think and what you think then write, rinse(if necessary) and repeat.
